Will all those home improvement shows all over TV, and all those yapping folks, one day Latinos just had to blessed with one of their own, and it comes in the form of Wanda N. Colón.
Colón is apparently a jack of all trades. Before this gig, she was a celebrity home interior designer, and she’s produced a film called Salt. Hail this chica!
Latinos are doing it for themselves, thank you very much!
If Shakira’s dreams come true, she and her boyfriend Antonio de la Rúa are going to be parents in the near future.
The singer-songwriter-producer told the newspaper El Tiempo that she sees herself with two kids at the most,
“Tengo muchas ganas de ser madre, no es el momento aún y menos en medio de un lanzamiento y una gira. Pero después de esto nos pondremos en la tarea. Nos podamos dedicar a nuestra función principal: ¡reproducir!”

Cameron Diaz was all smiles at the premiere of her movie My Sister’s Keeper. She and Jason Patric look like they could make a good pareja in la vida real, no?
And here’s my girl getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Who decides these things? This committe is rather late, wouldn’t you say? Our Cubanita has been a star for quite some time, no?
Nicole Richie was spotted taking a stroll. A pregnant woman can never get enough exercise.
Mark Consuelos showed all his teeth at the annual Trevor Summer gala in New York.
Rosie Perez attended the 20th anniversary of the classic 80s movie Do the Right Thing.
Someone please hand me those genes that in the Perez DNA. This woman never ages. Never. Go Rosie! You must be using Salma Hayek’s grandmother’s recipe!
And look, it’s Eva Longoria and her husband Tony Parker, spending some quality time together. May love’s hot flames be kept alive. Alive, I tell you!
Okay, so I’m still on a Michael Jackson streak. I truly loved him as an artist, and thank goodness my appreciation for him was in full bloom long before he died. If it had been any other way, I would be feeling a lot of remorse right about now.
You’ve seen Latino artists express what Michael Jackson meant to them, and how much influence he exerted over them as artists, and you’ve seen photos of him posing with Latino artists…
So without further ado, here’s “Todo Mi Amor Eres Tu”, which is the Spanish version of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, one of his Number One hit singles off the Bad (but good) album.
Too bad there’s not a video for this. Today you see a lot of musicians like this person here, releasing Spanish versions of their songs, but MJ was doing this waay back, before it was popular to reach out to the Latino market and snatch Latino dollars.
If you’d rather try to concentrate on listening to the song, rather than reading the lyrics, here they are:
Como la brisa
Tu voz me acaricia
Y pregunto por ti
Cuando amanece
Tu amor aparece
Y me hace feliz
Me conoces bien
Y sabes también
Que nadie te querra
Como yo
Tu me haces sentir
Deseos de vivir,
Junto a ti por siempre
Tu amor es mi suerte
Tu voz me llama
Tu eres quien gana
En mi corazón
Porque me has dado
Algo sagrado
Con tu pasión
Me conoces bien
Y sabes tambien
Que no puedo vivir sin tu amor
Y cuando no estas
No hay felicidad
Mi vida no es vida
Si tu te vas
Todo mi amor eres tú
Todo mi amor eres tú
Cuando no estas
No hay quien me de lo
Que das tu
Pues todo mi amor eres tu
Noche de estrellas
Haz que me quiera
Como a ella yo
De madrugada
Ven que te espera
Todo mi amor
Soy joven, lo se
Pero siento que
Te quiero y solo
Vivo por ti
Me conoces bien
Y sabes tambien
Que yo no puedo
Vivir sin tu amor
Todo mi amor eres tú
Ooh
Todo mi amor eres tú
Cuando no estas
No hay quien me de
Lo que das tú
Pues todo mi amor eres tú
Cambiaremos al mundo mañana
Cantaremos sobre lo que fue
Y diremos adios a la tristeza
Es mi vida y
Quiero estar junto a ti
Todo mi amor eres tú
(Now baby, oh)
Todo mi amor eres tú
(If I ain’t stop!)
Cuando no estas
No hay quien me de lo que das tú
Todo mi amor eres tú
Todo mi amor eres tú …
And this is Michael’s song “What More Can I Give”, in which every Latino artist worth mentioning lent their joyous voices. You’ll hear Shakira, Gloria Estefan, and Enrique Iglesias, etc . If you want to skip to Michael’s part, it’s around the 2:30 mark, if I’m not mistaken.
If you know of any other instances where my baby sings in Spanish, will you please hit up a chica on Twitter or via email, yokay? Muchas Gracias!
Also for the last contest I had, one of the winners Amanda did not email me in a timely manner, so another winner was chosen via Random.org, and that winner turned out to be commentator JaiMami, #4.
Thanks everyone for participating. Be sure to check here for the latest in terms of contests. One coming up soon.
Okay, let’s face it, and let’s be honest with ourselves. So many Latino artists have been influenced by Michael Jackson, as seen by this post.
So, as a continued tribute to Michael, check out these fabulous pics of El Rey del Pop with some Latino celebrity heavyweights.
This is El Rey with Latino 80s boy band Menudo, including a young Ricky Martin. [Thanks for setting me straight readers]
Ricky of course, let his feelings be known about his one-time musical idol, saying:
“Estoy muy triste. Nadie lo podrá reemplazar. Pero se que la luz que nos regaló en los escenarios seguirá iluminando a todos aquellos que lo tomamos como lo que fue y siempre será, un gran maestro, pura inspiración musical.”
Oh, and with Rush Hour director and Cuban-Jew Brett Ratner.
Ooh, and look at MJ with your favorite Venezuelan diva, Mariah Carey and non-Latino Usher.
Writing Michael Jackson 1958-2009 feels so strange. I honestly can’t believe that he is dead, but the newspaper headlines are only too accurate.
Several Latino celebrities have in one way or another reacted to the death of El Rey del Pop, and here’s what they had to say.
Cuban model Vida Guerra twittered:
“Enjoy the moment! Time is priceless R.I.P Michael Jackson.”
Gloria Estefan, herself a star that hit her artistic peak in the 1980s, said,
“Michael Jackson vivirá siempre en mi corazón como inolvidable y eterno.”
Demi Lovato sent combo condolences to the loved ones of actress Farrah Fawcett and Jackson:
“Such a sad day… My prayers are going out to all of the families who lost such inspiring people this week.”
Part-Venezuelan pop star Mariah Carey, who remade one of his songs, I’ll Be There, many years back put out this statement:
“No artist will ever take his place. His star will shine forever. millions of devoted fans throughout the world. I feel blessed to have performed with him several times & to call him my friend.”
El Cuerpo del Deseo actress-singer Lorena Rojas indicated on her Twitter page that this should be a time for everyone to give themselves a self-evaluation:
“Es un dia de reflexión.. Be happy.”
Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra told the media:
“Su música será recordada por siempre”.Michael Jackson fue un artista extraordinario, cantante, bailarín, compositor y productor”.
“Elevo una oración a nuestro Señor para que le dé fortaleza a su familia y a todos sus fanáticos alrededor del mundo.”
“This is probably [among] the top three worst days of my life. MJ — you know I’m a gangsta rapper so we always got that hard edge, but at the end of the day, the king is the king. “I can go down the list: there wouldn’t be no Usher, there wouldn’t be no Chris Brown. There wouldn’t be nobody without MJ. There wouldn’t be no Justin. He was just harmony on Earth. I never think MJ ever did anything wrong in his life. He was just a beautiful soul on this earth.”
Interesting how everyone appreciates you once you die!
Condolences to the Jackson Family! Wow, I’m just now beginning to get over my shock!
And to conclude, check out some international covers that Michael made.
