2009 Latin Grammys the Complete Red Carpet Report
Previously, we gave you a little taste of the Latin Grammys. A little entree, one might say. Now sit down for the whole meal, folks.
And who do we have here?
Rita Ribeiro…nice gown chica.
The members of Los Hurracanes del Norte wore identical suits to the Red Carpet. How novel!
Maria Teresa Interiano came to the red carpet wearing a dress that was somewhat reminiscent of the dress that Shakira wore to the MTV Awards recently.
Violeta Martinez and her breasts made a splash at the show. It was like she was trying to outshine the gecko geico lizard with all that greeness.
Oh, looks it’s actor Aaron Diaz, also known as the sweetheart to one Kate del Castillo.
Speaking of which…
Wow, that’s a nice look on Kate. That Grecian dress.
And she’s finally decided to do something with her hair. Married life will make you try all sorts of new things.
What a lovely dress on Nuestra Belleza Latina winner Melissa Marty. I wonder if she used some of her prize money to acquire that new chest.
Now, look at Lucero.
I hardly recognized her. Wow, that short cut really took away a few years.
It looks like it was snatched off the consignment rack some place.
India Martinez was also on the red carpet. Let me just move on to the next set of famosos before I get tempted to say something about that dress of hers.
Yes, India, we too are horrified by the fashion monstrosity. You may now close your mouth.
Leave it up to Charytin Goyco to try something crazy, like wearing that outfit. She makes India Martinez’s dress look good. I guess the fact that her son Shalim Ortiz made her a grandmother had her racing to the nearest shop for something to appease those granny years.
Now where did she Greidys Gil think she was going? To an audition for a remake of some mermaid movie? Goodness gracious.
Yessica came, looking simple. A little too much of simplicity if you ask us.
Now, why do I find myself loving this black gown that Cristina Eustace is wearing? Perhaps I need help.
Here’s Lucero again. I’m so not feeling those orange accents on that dress now that I’ve had the chance to think about it.
Here’s Jimena Angel laughing as she poses for photographers.
Could she be laughing at her own dress? It does look like clearance sale material at Forever 21.
Oh, look it’s Stefania Fernandez.
The 2009 Miss Universe from Venezuela is surely making us proud.
I’m not sure if I’m for or against that epaulet.
That blue is just too bright Kany Garcia. Please see this example and that example of other Latino celebrities who’ve worn the royal blue color well.
Now what is Dulce Maria doing in that prom dress?
I bet after the show was over, she just threw herself on her bed without changing, since she figured she was already dressed in a nightgown.
And let us ask…what happened to her trademark redhead?
Oh look, it’s Shaila Durcal.
The dress is simple enough. It looks like evening maternity wear though.
Oh, look, it’s your favorite Cuban besides William Levy. Our very own Emilio Estefan. Now Emilio, why the choice of cream for the awards show? Black would have done just fine, my man.
Now look who we have here! Luz Rios.
Now that bow on that dress has double purposes. It also serves as a pillow for Luz. How creative.
It’s none other than MegaTV’s Ana Maria Canseco.
Nice look for her. Wonder why she’s looking better than some artists on the red carpet.
Daniela Mercury in an outift obviously inspired by Lila Downs.
Barbara Palacios’s dress wasn’t the problem. It was the color of the dress.
The dudes from Zone D’ Tambora got all wild and rowdy on the red carpet.
Maria Elena Salinas decided to put on clubwear for the red carpet.
Those chandelier earrings were a nice idea for accessories though.
It’s the lovely Laura Pausini, who really needs a new hairdresser. It’s the same old boring hair.
It’s Los Ticanes Tucanes [whoops, a typo; thanks guys] de Tijuana, wearing their green ribbons in support of the environment.
Oh, look, it’s Paloma having a second prom, at the expense of our eyes.
Eduardo Zayas and his girl came.
Now Arlene Tur, (or her stylist) knows how to pick out a nice royal blue dress.
Marlene Favela came on the red carpet wearing this thing.
I like Marlene like you wouldn’t believe, but must she put me into temptation with an ugly ensemble like this. Folks, this is a perfect example of a flawless woman with flawed taste.
Mayra Veronica and her protruding chest were on hand.
And yet another lady in royal blue.
Barbara Bermudo showed off her curves.
Alejandro gives a high-five, and we can co-sign on that. He does look good.
Boring though, we might add. Does he wear the same suit to every award show? It seems like it.

Her dress was nice, but aren’t those brows just a little too thick?
Residente of Calle 13 came and greeted fans.
Later on that night, Pepe Aguilar performed.
And in one of the most touching moments of the evening, Enrique Iglesias formally presented Juan Gabriel with the Person of the Year award.
And Alejandro and Alicia Keys made quite a pair, singing their duet.

It was designed by Martha Madeiros [ who also designed her dress for the Latin Grammy's in 2007] It is a hand weaved dress [ weaved by multiple artisans] in a style that has migrated from Italy to Portual and eventually to Brail.
