The lovely Dominicana Zoë Saldaña really has gone sci-fi this year. First the New Jersey-born beauty played Uhura in Star Trek, and now it’s James Cameron’s latest science fiction movie Avatar. Watch Zoë discuss the movie below.
Fergie, the 1/18th Mexican is the cover girl for the fashion magazine for the month of August.
In the magazine, Mrs. Josh Duhamel discusses everything from marriage to her one-time raunchy image, saying:
“I wasn’t trying to be a role model with (debut solo album) ‘The Dutchess.’… Seeing little girls in the audience with their moms. (It) made me think about what I do onstage a little bit more. I had to watch my mouth, because it can be filthy.”
La Ferguson is not considered as too photogenic to some, but I’m really liking these black and white photos from the Marie Claire photoshoot. She looks stunning! Check them out for yourself.

I’m not one for academia studies, but Black behind the Ears: Dominican Racial Identity from Museums to Beauty Shops is really and truly a book that needs to be read by everyone in the Latino community, whether Dominican or otherwise.
Although Ginetta E. B.Candelario the author focuses on the Dominican Republic, as you can already see by the title, the book really provides food for thought to the Latino community because it furnishes a great deal of insight into the racial identities and delves into the complicated color complex among Dominican Hispanics.
Don’t feel intimidated by the charts, and the sociological rhetoric, and you’ll be just fine, and you’ll never view color politics (in the USA and elsewhere) the same way.
