Benicio del Toro Urges Puerto Rico to Recognize Monkeys’ Rights
Benicio del Toro always impresses us with his activism. His latest? He has partnered with animal rights organization PETA to petition Puerto Rico’s governor to stop the breeding of a group of monkeys from the island of Mauritius.
Bioculture is a company is actually planning to use the monkeys and sell off their offspring for experiments.
This is an excerpt from the letter that Benny wrote to Puerto Rico’s governor Luis Fortuño about his opposition to the Guayama mpnkey facility .
“[M]ost Puerto Ricans are strongly opposed to Bioculture’s plans. Please don’t allow Puerto Rico to be associated with a facility that profits from extreme animal abuse.”
Don’t you just love Benicio? Talented and sensitive. Sigh.
