Fat Joe has money. He should help the widow of his late comrade. Apparently, she didn’t get an advance for the Big Pun documentary that’s being released this month.

Somebody please hand Fat Joe an ink pen, so he could at least get her some rent money.

9/12 Update: Hissip has gotten a statement from a representative of the producers of the Big Pun documentary:

“The creators of the documentary are actually very close with Liza and have fully compensated her for her participation and promotion of the DVD. They have nothing but the utmost respect for Liza and support her in all of her endeavors.”

Christopher Rios better known to us as Big Pun lived a short life, but left behind a considerable legacy as a raperro.

Big Pun: The Legacy is the documentary that’s going to be released on September 15th, and will chronicle the rapper’s career.

“I hope that the fans will get a chance to remember their idol while watching the film,” said first-time director Vlad Yudin. “All those who are not entirely familiar with his story, will get an opportunity to discover the legend.”

Oh, really! I hope that this documentary doesn’t make light of the fact that Mr. Rios was a domestic violence-prone, wife-beater. Thanks.

And among the other artists who were interviewed for the documentary, Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones, Swizz Beats, DMX, Method Man, Raekwon, Redman, XZIBIT, Bone Thugs n Harmony, GhostFace Killah, Prodigy, B Real, Styles P., Fredro Starr, DJ Enough, DJ Skribble, Sticky Fingaz, Chuck D, Jae Millz, Big Tigger, but where is Fat Joe’s name. Could his absence have anything to do with this?

While Big Pun’s wife is quite disgruntled over the nurturing of her late husband’s legacy, his one-time BFF Fat Joe had culinary things on his mind.

Joe leaned back and forth in a Fort Lauderdale restaurant, conjuring up some delicioso meatballs, one of the specialties of the house at Café Martarano in South Florida.

Funny looking at Joe, you would think that he’s a big eater, but not necessarily a comida conoisseur.

Big Pun would have turned 37 this November 9th if he hadn’t died of heart failure back in 2000. From the looks of things he and Fat Joe were the best of friends.

You would have thought that he was keeping in touch with Liza Rios, Big Pun’s wife? Not according to Ms. Rios’s account of things. She dished out on the whole situation with hip hop journalist Anthony Springer, Jr, starting off with the fact that Fat Joe (and presumably Big Pun’s other friends) are doing practically nothing to keep the torch burning on Pun’s legacy:

“Like Puffy was in a position with Biggie, to keep his memory alive… the people that was in that position to do it with Pun should’ve did it,” she says of the lack of attention Pun has received since his death.

Liza Rios and rapper Cuban Link attended the grand premiere of Big Pun: The Legacy, a documentary about Pun that was being screened at the the NY International Latino Film Festival at the Directors Guild Theater yesterday in New York City.

Glad to see Pun’s legacy being kept alive, with his wife and one-time best friends holding it down!

Looks like Armando “Pitbull Mr. Miami 305″ Perez is balling these days. The Latino cable network Mun2 will be giving him his own reality series La Esquina (”The Corner”) and that’s in addition to his sketch show Rock, Pepe, Scissors, set to debut in a few months. He’s the perfect choice for the reality series. He is one of the few Hispanic rappers besides Fat Joe and the late Big Pun who has credibility with the mainstream hip-hop (Pitbull has collaborated with Little Jon)—in addition to his leverage with Latinos. His next album, a sort of sequel to 2006’s El Mariel, is called–(no surprise) The Boatlift. The first single “Secret Admirer” featuring Lloyd is already drawing some buzz. The album drops November 27th from TVT Records.
