Siempre Mujer magazine has chosen its annual list of Latinas who inspire the community through their good deeds. The celebrities chosen this year are: Shakira, María Celeste Arrarás, Teresa Rodríguez, Charytín Goyco, Karen Hoyos, Dr. Ana Maria Polo and Amelia Toro.
Each woman has their causes. We all know about Shakira and her efforts to make Colombian an equal opportunity country, when it comes to education. Through her Piez Descalzos foundation, she’s built schools in Baranquilla, Colombia, and let’s not forget the time she gave up her designer clothes to be auctioned off to help others.

Celeste Arrarás for her part is really involved in bringing awareness to autism. And who can forget the self-help book she released this year: Live Your Life in Bold Red: Secrets to Help You Triumph?

TV Anchor Teresa Rodríguez is as much known as the co-host of “Aqui y Ahora” as she is known for the voice she gives to a rampant ailment as heart disease in the Latin community. And did we mention that she wrote a book too?

Doctora Ana Maria Polo also made the list. She’s a tireless crusader against breast cancer and the host of the court show favorite “Caso Cerrado”.
Newly-turned grandmother Charytín Goyco now has another accomplishment to her list of accolades.

Abuse survivor Karen Hoyos is among the honorees for her emphasis on the end of abuse of children in Latin America while fashion designer Amelia Toro for her work in Colombia in teaching women to become independent, with a fashion twist.
Congratulations, mujeres. You make us proud.
