We thought that there just had to be a mistake somewhere, but yes, it is really true. Today, Alejandro Chabán turns 28 not 18 as you probably would think from looking at his adorable baby face.
It is exactly 28 years ago that a fine couple in Maturín the capital of the Venezuelan state of Monagas, became the proud parents of one little Alejandro José Chabán Rodríguez in eastern Venezuela.
Alejandro hasn’t done too badly for himself for his 28 years.
Let’s not forget dearest lectores that recently he signed a hefty contract with Univision, after severing ties with Telemundo, his one-time employer. A great move on the part of Univision that we can’t stop applauding, because Alejandro has a lot going for him.
Since a telenovela actor can pretty much find decent roles until he’s well into his 50s, Ale has another 22 years to reign as a telenovela king. Er, prince. Er, king, and that’s final. Not like those telenovela actors who are signing contracts nowadays and who should be playing abuelos but who are still being whisked in leading man roles to the detriment of us telenovela viewers (who have to stare at their curly, ugly gray chest hairs, middle-age fat, and spider veins on their wrinkly chests in unintentionally funny love scenes)!

Fernando Colunga and Gabriela Spanic are among the best-loved screen couples of all time in Telemundo’s “La Usurpadora”, their telenovela from 1998. Wow, it has been twelve years since they have worked together! CONTINUE READING

Sherlyn was considered, but it’s Danna Paola who will be playing the character of Fatima in the remake of the telenovela Quinceañera.
The original telenovela is of course known as the teen drama that catapulted both Thalía and Adela Noriega to teen idol status.
We’re told that the producers of the remake really wanted to revitalize the new version, but will pretty much follow the plot as set by original writer René Muñoz (who also played the character Timo in the 1987 version). The plot will feature Danna in Adela Noriega’s part as Fátima, an impoverished young girl who’s infatuated with an older teen, and who’s being raised by an eccentric, but loving mother.
Danna Paola is truly blessed. She is the one singing the Spanish version of the song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” on the Toy Story 3 soundtrack.
And let’s not forget her recent triumph as Patito in the hit telenovela Atrévete a soñar.
And she’s putting finishing touches on her musical album. If her Premie Oye-winning song “Mundo de Caramelo” is any indication, this album os going to be a big hit.
What a busy life for someone who just turned 15 this past June!
What do you all think? Do we have a real superstar on our hands, or what?

Your favorite diva Gloria Trevi has been selected in the Teresa theme song sweepstake to sing the title song for the telenovela, which as you remember, will star Sebastian Rulli and Angelique Boyer.
We actually think that the producers made a great choice. What do you think?

Sherlyn has been playing second fiddle for quite some time now.
Remember how short of screen time she had in Fuego en la Sangre?
But things are looking up for the actress who’s dimunitive in size, but certainly not diminutive in talent.
We’ve just learned that the actress, who currently can be seen as part of the cast of the Univision telenovela Camaleones, is being seriously considered as the lead actress for Teresa, the telenovela that put Salma Hayek on the map, and will surely do a lot more for Sherlyn’s fledging career and Quinceañera, another telenovela that did a great deal to help catapult Thalia and Adela Noriega to superstardom.
This is Sherlyn’s moment to shine. Let’s not forget that she has had her share of tragedy, including the devastating death of her brother. We know that all her current joys, successes, and triumphs will never erase the pain that she felt from this terrible loss, but perhaps it will help her in putting it behind her.
We wish her the best on the road to superstardom.
