We’ve just learned that Vicente Fernández is going to be touring this year. And not just any tour! It’s being backed up by live performance music promoter Live Nation.
El Rey Rey de la Ranchera is still working with his longtime producer though, Ralph Hauser, who’s helping put together the tour.
No word on the dates yet, but you can be sure that wherever he plays, and whenever he plays, you can expect to hear his heart-fluttering renditions of hits like “Necesito de Ti”, “La Voz Que Usted Esperaba”, “Miseria”, “No, No y No”, “Volver, Volver”, and “Para Siempre”—the personal favorites of many ladies.
Live Nation has been teaming up with Latino artists for a lot of musical tours lately.
And why is that? Live Nation was sleeping and finally woke up to discover that there’s a lot of money to be made in Latin music.
Long live Latin music!

We’ve previously told you about Emilio Estefan and Gloria Estefan gathering a host of famosos for our very own version of We Are the World. We have received the list of Latino artists participating in this historical event. If you’re short of breath already, you had better sit down for this, because the list is huge. CONTINUE READING

The nominations for Premio Lo Nuestro are in! Jenni Rivera and Alicia Villareal are duking it out for the Female Artist of the Year honors.
And are we not surprised that Ricardo Ajorna’s album 5to Piso made it on the list of nominees for Album of the Year. It was the best-selling album by a Latino for the latter part of 2008 and for most 2009.

Vicente Fernández truly has a lovely voice; I don’t care how old and how young you are. This man’s voice is truly golden and I just cannot get enough of it. Necesito de Ti is his latest opus.
You can hear some samples from the album here.
What else is noteworthy? The ISA TKM telenovela is a phenomenon, so it really comes as no surprise that Sony International decided to release a CD consisting of a bunch of songs from the show’s soundtrack.

The soundtrack is what a Latin American teen’s life is made of: Te “Habla Mi Corazón”, “Nada Puede Más”, not to mention the cynical “Amigas Como Tú”.

It seems as if it was only yesterday that Shaila Dúrcal had released her previous album Tanto Amor, but she is back with a new album she has entitled Corazón Ranchero. Unlike the Tanto Amor album and Recordando, another one of her releases, this album showcases a more mature Shaila.
It’s not of original material however, just some tribute songs to the ranchero genre. She’s very bold in her musical approach, I should say, taking on everyone from Javier Solis to Juan Gabriel to Vicente Fernández himself. Among the many highlights of this hommage to la música ranchera are the songs “Y Llegaste Tú” and “Tu Infame Engaño”.
She’s not the daughter of Rocío Dúrcal for nothing folks!

El Charro de Huentitán is going to be giving a concert in Mexico on el Día del Amor y la Amistad. Bet that’s made a lot of enamorados happy!
I can just picture Vicente and his tenor pipes dazzling the whole stadium with “Estos celos” and “Para siempre” (my favorite song of his and may I add the only good thing that’s ever come out of that disastrous remake of Pasion de Gavilanes, better known as Fuego en la Sangre).
