Gustavo Santaolalla’s Bajofondo the Latino Band That’s Rocking the Latino Music World
Have you heard of Bajafondo, you know the group that super hit Argentina-born producer Gustavo Santaolalla made with a bunch of Argentinean and Paraguayan musicians, including Osvaldo Golijov. You better ask somebody!
According to Santaolalla himself, the band’s uniquely eclectic sound is due to the culturally enigmatic Rio de la Plata, the border that separates Argentina from Paraguay. He told the Boston Herald:
“We consider it an iconic geographical place,” said Santaolalla. “Tango is part of the connecting fabric of that region, and we all grew up with it. But we also grew up with the Beatles, the Chemical Brothers, everything. Everything influences us and me.”
Well, we’ll be sure to get down with it, Gustavo. You can visit their MySpace page and sample their hip musical style.
