Latino Designers Try Their Hands at Michelle Obama Inaugural Gown
Latino designers are trying their hands at creating the inaugural outfit for Michelle Obama.
This is what Carolina Herrera has in mind. The venezolana thinks that this lime gown could be it.
And if not, she has also offered this tweed alternative.
Between those two, I definitely prefer the lime gown. Looks so much more elegant and modern, and stylish.
Of course, Carolina’s sketches aren’t the only ones in the running. Oscar de la Renta, your Dominican designer preferida came up with this.
I kinda like this one, except I would suggest another more vibrant color for Michele’s gown. The kids’ gowns would need some major touch-up. This ain’t the Victorian era Oscar!
And finally, there was this get-up here from the Chilean designer Zero + Maria Cornejo.

Naw, naw, Maria, go back to the drawing board. This looks too Eleanor Roosevelt for my taste.
Suprisingly enough, Narciso Rodriguez didn’t submit his own sketch. After all that hoopla about the gown Senora Obama wore on election night, wonder if she’ll turn to him again for the inaugural gown. But she doesn’t seem to be the type to care about what the gente are piensando, so maybe Narciso will get the gig again.
