Latino Music News: Guess Who Selena Gomez Wants to Duet With? + Alexander Acha + Orishas
Alexander Acha, the son of the legendary Mexican singer is striking out on his own. The album mostly consists of ballads like “Universo de flores”, “Con un beso”, “Soy un huracan”, and “Cuando me miras (Ya no se que hacer)” all these love-sick love songs, but what else would you want this papi chulo to sing about?
Guess who Selena Gomez wants to duet with? None other than fellow teen star Taylor Swift. What a generous and uncompetitive Latina, that Selena Gomez!Selena shared as much in an interview with teeny-boppy magazine Popstar:
“We have talked about a duet. I think it would be really neat to have the country vibe.
Can you imagine Selena doing country? She added:
“Taylor is not just plain country, [but] she’s got a little pop edge to her. It’s something I really admire, so we want to write a really awesome country rock song and it sounds a little weird but we’re totally down for that.”
That Selena Gomez. Don’t you just love her? Most chicks would want to stay away from someone who many might perceive as a star rival, but that’s the sort of confident chick Selena is, thank you very much. Rivales don’t faze her.
The Orishas have a new album out, and apparently it was dropped a few months ago. Funny a group like them known for the hard-edged style would give their latest disco a cutesy pie title like Cosita Buena.
But the Cuban trio is still coming hard-core at us, blending traditional Afro-Cuban beats, with hip-hop, and a bold rockero style on tracks like “Hip Hop Conga”, “Melodías”, “Maní”. Most people feel that Emigrante or A Lo Cubano were their best work, but sometimes artists do suprise us.
