Latino Music News: RBD + Alex Ubago + Tito El Bambino
RBD is throwing one more back at us, for old times’ sake. The 13-track Para Olvidarte De Mí has songs like “Lágrimas Perdidas”, “Más Tuya Que Mía” to help you get your RBD fix. EMI Latin is not playing folks! They want to milk that RBD franchise for all it’s worth.
Cutie Alex Ubago is back on the prowl with Calle Illusión, co-produced by Latin music wiz Cachorro Lopez (Julieta Venegas, Vanessa Colaiutta, Paulina Rubio, Stephanie Salas, among others).
Looking at how preppy he looks on this album, you would think that Alex would be feeding us with some light pop. But, no Señor. One song that caught my ears in particular is Como si fuera el último. In it, he sings:
Y dale a tu vida el sudor de alguien que lucha
Por ser lo que un día soñó sin miedo a perder
Haz se escuche tu voz trata de estar siempre en pie
Y vive cada momento como si fuera el último que hay
I couldn’t help but think of her.
And look out for a collabo with Craig David, (who I still dig) called “Walk Away”. Is Alex trying to tell us something? Will his next album with Cachorro be an all-English album?
Now why is Tito El Bambino channeling Will Smith in Independence Day? In any case, El Patron his album was supposed to have been released in the last week of March, but dropped this week. From “Se Me Daña La Mente”, “Te Comencé A Querer” to sexy jams like “Desnudarte” and “Mi Cama Huele a Ti”, it’s obvious that the El Patron album is giving way to a more suave, smoother and self-assured Tito El Bambino lyrically and musically-speaking.
Songs like “Te Extraño” are not quite in the Tito El Bambino vein. Who knew there was vulnerability in this gangster? One thing for certain though is that Tito is evolving tremendously as an artist from his It’s My Time and Top of the Line days.
