Latino Music Sales Going Down

So reggaeton, Latin pop, and other Latino music genres are going down-hill sales-wise.
According to Reuters, who’s cited figures from Billboard,
Sales fell 21.1% to 25.1 million units; the decline from 2006 to 2007 was 15.6 percent.
Only country and classical albums suffered steeper drops last year, falling 24% and 26%, respectively. For the second year in a row all 12 genres dropped, as total album sales fell for the seventh time in eight years.
Whoa. There used to be a time when Latino music was eight only behind rock and alternative. But CD sales are going nose down in genres in general.
Another reason why the music sales seems to be going down, is that some Latino artists (you know who you are, although if you insist I can surely point!) are trying to put out refritos:
“People are saturated with compilations and live albums,” [music buyer Alberto Uribe] says. “People want new music. They tell us so.”

Comment made on January 5, 2009 at 11:41 amIt def has to do with the *sigh* economy and CD sales in general. Why would you want to buy music when you can easily “download” it off some service :).
Although supporting an artist is the best thing a consumer can do haha.
