News Flash: So Salma Hayek is Really a Colombian NOT a Mexican?
You’ve read right. After worshiping the Latina beauty from afar as a Mexican empress, it turns out that Salma Hayek is actually a Colombian.
According to Latin American television station Nuestra Tele Noticias 24:
“Es probable que todos conozcamos a la estrella de cine mexicana Salma Hayeck. Pues ahora una tía suya y una prima que viven en el municipio del Guamo, Tolima en Colombia aseguran que la morena más seductora y consentida de Hollywood, nació en Bogotá Colombia. Ellos nos cuentan su historia, la de los parientes que se mueren por ella, pero no la han podido conocer.”
Well, that’s news to us, kinda like the type of mild shock that my prima got when she found out that Bárbara Mori her idol was not born in Mexico but in Uruguay. Oh, well. Salma, that fine mami, still reeks of Latinness anyway.

Comment made on May 21, 2009 at 11:50 amI believe it’s true. Like Mario Cimarro is not Mexican like most people believe. He was born in Cuba people. C-U-B-A. And he moved to Mexico and eventually became a citizen. I wish Salma would address this.
@pablon someX’s random tias do be knowing some family secrets now.

Maybe so, but it doesn’t change the fact that this doesn’t matter. Salma’s no less or more of a goddess if she was born in Mexico or Cuba or Mars.

Comment made on September 1, 2009 at 1:31 amThis is way too much! She is NOT Colombian…..Just because some relatives went over there to live, doesn’t mean we are all Colombian….People need to know the history as to why most of our ancestors came over here from Lebanon. And yes, the story of those Colombian people saying they are related, and they could well be, are right about one thing, they used to called our great-grandfathers “Turcos”, because when some of them arrived over to Latin America, some had Turkish passport, for that you will have to know what was happening back then as to why Lebanese people had to travel as Turks….BTW, for those Colombians relatives, Salma has relatives right here in the USA that don’t even know her in person, but who are not dying to do so either….Just wish her well, love her, support her and admire her because she is a hard working woman and that right there should give enough satisfaction, because that is exactly the kind of people we come from, hard working people!

Comment made on September 1, 2010 at 6:39 amFor starters, Salma Hayek isn’t even Latin American! Her father is Lebanese and her mother is Spanish, from Spain, Europe. She was born in Mexico, that is her nationality. My nationality is American, but my parents are from Mexico.
I appreciate what she’s done for us, but she’s not one of us. I wish she would stop calling herself a Mexican because she isn’t one and be proud of her actual heritage.
That bothers me most about her. Everyone should be proud of their heritage.
