Ricky Martin to Build Youth Center in Puerto Rico
Looks like Shakira is not the only Latino celebrity who loves the kids. Ricky Martin does too. Ricky was in Cologne, Germany recently to raise money to build a center for Puerto Rican youths in Loiza, (which is not too far from San Juan) by having a telethon on German television network RTL.
“The idea is to build a center, a safe haven for children that are at risk of exploitation, which is the main mission of my foundation.”
He told the Associated Press:
“Thousands of children are trafficked around the world,” he said. “This isn’t necessarily a problem of poverty but an issue of values. It’s the slavery of a new era and I hope to abolish it.”
The birth of his sons Mateo and Valentino has really brought out the good Samaritan out of our Ricky, and we like that.
