The ABC TV series “Ugly Betty” just went tropical. America Ferrera and other members of the cast were in the Bahamas to film an episode that the show’s fans will see once the new season starts.

Golly, America; it looks like you’re having loads of fun.

We thought for sure that the next Latina to cover Latina magazine would be Demi Lovato, but perhaps she’s the November cover girl?

Anyway, this cover featuring the incomparable America Ferrera, is just as welcomed. In the October issue, a rather introspective portrait of the Honduran TV and film superstar.

On her widely reported beef with Lindsay Lohan, who was actually a guest star at one point on “Ugly Betty”, America says:

“Of course they want to make us look like we fought like cats and dogs, because people are going to believe it. And it’s total BS. It’s not true. It does such a disservice to the image of young women.”

America also discussed playing, er, “wise” Latinas:

“It’s not anything I’ve done consciously. I’m just drawn to the characters and trying to make them more than one-dimensional.”

The October issue also features dance-pop relic Lisa Lisa and Nelly Furtado, so be sure to pick it up!

So America is on the phone. As Betty or as herself?

Here she is again, taking a well-deserved break from the set of the TV show.

Back to being Betty again. Wow, that is one big hot dog.

Good thing she’s in New York filming her “Ugly Betty” episodes. If she were in Atlanta or in the Florida heat, you would only see gasps.

America Ferrera spoke at the commencement ceremony of the Kaplan distance learning Class of 2009 in the city of Chicago and she didn’t hesitate to stress the importance of education.

She told the Chicago Sun-Times,

“My journey of trying to keep my education a priority in my life — when I was already on my career path — has been a juggling act.”

“These men and women have had to balance jobs, children and other concerns. I can relate to how hard it is to continue to make education an important part of my life while balancing my career.”

She also shared her concern about some Education issues in the Latin community:

“The No. 1 demographic of high school dropouts are Latino women,” she said. “I know there are economic factors for why young Latinos are so undereducated, but it also starts with what we place importance on as a culture.

“We have to empower the next generation to accept education as a way up, and I believe you have to start with the women so they can pass it on to their kids.”

To some the Los Angeles-born Hondureña actress will be “Ugly Betty”, but to us she’s always going to be Smart America to us, because she always has something uplifting to say.

While she’s earning millions as an actress in Hollywood, her education is definitely not playing second fiddle to her career, as she is still pursuing her college degree!

She’s definitely not one of those celebrities who are always lecturing the public about something and privately are not taking their own advice.

¡Mira! It’s little Rosie. Where has she been lately? The Dimpled Boricua showed up at the Vanity Fair Tribeca Film Festival party. She’s so adorable, even with little makeup.

L.A.-raised, Colombian born Sangre de Mi Sangre star Paola Mendoza was also there, sporting a rather nice get-up ruined by just too many colors.

Wait, now that I do see her close-up, I’d say she’d definitely use some Invisilign. Not too much; just a little.

Here goes Rosie Perez again. Now who’s that girl with you Rosie? Who could she be?

America Ferrera celebrated her 25th birthday with her “Ugly Betty” friends Ana Ortiz and Mark Indelicato.

Look at ‘em, looking all relaxed and laughing up a storm. Don’t you wish you worked there too?

Oh, Rosie was also at the premiere of the documentary Tyson. Dimpling again. But without her lady friend.

Paz de la Huerta was also spotted looking quite the waif. She’s like two skipped meals away from being an Amy Winehouse or what?

Lawd, there she goes again. Look at her with her mouth all open. What could she possibly be saying? “Anybody out there? Have pity on a chica. I could use a makeover?”

Fab Honduran chica America Ferrera came out to show her support for the cast of at the Broadway launch of the play God Of Carnage at Bernard Jacobs Theatre in New York City. America has expressed being in something Broadway-ish before, so one day we can look forward to that.

And who do we have here? Mr. Bernie Williams, our Puerto Rican baseball legend, hamming it up at the Friends of Scotland benefit event at M2 Lounge in New York City aptly titled Dressed to Kilt.

The alfombra roja was scorching hot with Latino heat at the Kids Choice Awards. Let’s check out the Latino celebs who made it there and who blessed this kiddie awards show with some Latin flavor.

Glamour magazine decided to put the call out to Young Hollywood to reenact some iconic American images, and would you believe that three young fabulissima chicas made the cut!

You can see fab chavita America Ferrera up there as Latino history legend Dolores Huerta. America actually looks up to Dolores, saying,

““She saw her own opinion and voice as [something as] powerful as any man’s.”
