There’s no better time for Latinos celebrities to bask in their own glory and beauty than at the Oscars. Let’s see what they had in store for us this year.
Shall we start with Zoë Saldaña? The Dominicana wore this lavender gown and looked quite statuesque. CONTINUE READING

Yeni confirmed that she indeed parted ways with her one-time record label Sony Music, and has released this statement:
“I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion in regards to my next album, titled ‘Love.’ I have belonged to the Sony family since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we’ve had great success. I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure from the label. I’m also happy to say that we’ve found a new home for my album, ‘Love,’ and that it is slated for release in the summer of 2010.”
We’ve found out that the new home will be none other than Island Def Jam! Sources tell us that Mrs. Marc Anthony and Island Def Jam heavyweight L.A. Reid have been taking part in some hush-hush negotiations, and that it’s pretty much a done deal.
Island Def Jam has been known to pick up major artists dropped by labels (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey) only to drop them later, so Yeni, please proceed with caution.
Jennifer Lopez and Sony Records are no longer partners in crime. Depending on who you believe, Sony Records dropped Yeni, OR the split between artist and record company was mutual. According to one source:
“the contract period had ended and that Lopez had fulfilled it with her last two singles, and that Lopez and Stringer [an executive at Sony] decided together not to move forward with an album. Others insist the Sony label dropped her. There also is disagreement on how finished her upcoming album was before it was canceled.”
We’ll read between the lines and we’ll tell you what all this really means. What it always come down to is money. Lots of longtime artists are being given the boot by major record labels when their sales record isn’t what it used to be with competition from downloads and other factors. So, Jennifer Lopez isn’t an exception.
At least J.Lo still has her family to emotionally support her and loving fans all over the world. In the end, when all the fame and glory has faded, that’s all that really matters.
Jennifer has never lived in fool’s paradise, and knows how fickle fame can be. Remember what she had said in that interview she did with Allure magazine about how the papparazzi doesn’t follow you when money is longer involved?
In case you didn’t notice, Yeni is back. And in a big way. She performed at the San Remo Song Festival in Italy. See more photos of her performance, as well as a video itself. CONTINUE READING
Producer Quincy Jones recently remade the We Are the World the 25th Anniversary version. Not to be outdone, Cuban diva Gloria Estefan is gathering a bunch of Latino artists to do her own version…en Español—of course.
Who’s signed up? So far, Gloria La Diva has approached Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez,Marc Anthony and Enrique Iglesias (who was part of the English version).
Gloria has already had the song translated, and titled it “Somos El Mundo”. It’s only a matter of time before it’s actually recorded.
We have to say that we’re really looking forward to this one. Gloria and her husband Emilio helped Shakira do bilingual albums when she set out to conquer the English-speaking market, so we can imagine that this song is going to be something great to look forward to.
Yeni just couldn’t miss being part of the action! Here she is, in a rather tight, tight, very, very tight catsuit, at the AXE Lounge at LIV in Miami Beach at the Fontaine Bleu Hotel on Saturday night. See who else was partying! CONTINUE READING
