Shakira is releasing a special edition of her newest hit album Loba. What’s the difference between this one, and the one she released earlier this month?
According to our source, this version will include bonus tracks that are available for the first time anywhere all on one disc such as “Give It Up to Me” (which is produced by Timbaland and features rapper Lil Wayne), as well “Did It Again”, her collaboration with another rapper, Kid Cudi, as well as some exclusive live performances.
By the way, this is what Shakira had to say about her new musical direction:
“This was a sonic experimental trip. I wanted to play around with electronica, beats, synthesizers and I began to research folk from other countries looking for new influences that allowed me to combine electronics with world sounds, tambourines, clarinets, oriental and Hindu music, dancehall, etc.”
And looks like the experiment is paying off. The first single “She Wolf” topped charts around the world with nearly a million singles sold in the U.S. and topping the iTunes singles chart. The song and video saw a string of #1’s including #1 on the hot single sales chart, #1 video debut on iTunes and MTV, and #1 video in more than 7 countries across the globe, making it one of the most downloaded videos of the year.
Selena Gomez was at the TV Guide’s Hot List event last night, looking gorgeous. I’m not too sure as to whether this girl has a stylist or if she does everything herself. Either way, she has been pulling some great looks.
Now, for Shaki.
Here she is, at the studios for the David Letterman show. Not sure what she was thinking, wearing that scarf with that outfit. Not good. Not good at all.
And look!
It’s Sofia Vergara. Wonder where she’s going? Find out! CONTINUE READING
Shakira was at the famed Bowery Hotel in New York City at a gathering being thrown in honor of her <em>Rolling Stone magazine cover and of course the launch of her album Loba.
Enrique Iglesias and David Bisbal were among the Latino celebrities who came out to support Juan Gabriel, as he was being given the Person of the Year Award by the Latin Recording Academy in Las Vegas.
Plenty of Latino celebrities came to the movie premiere of Precious, the Lee Daniels film, starring Mariah Carey.
Mario Lopez was the cover subject for Catalina Magazine’s latest issue.
With all the mirth that was going on in Latino celebrity week, there was also some bad news.
First, Jorge Vargas, considered by many to be one of the best actors of his generation, died at the age of 68 of complications following a colon cancer surgery. The actor’s son Ernesto D’Alessio and the rest of the family received the public’s outpouring love.
At least Mr. Vargas had a lustrous career starting with his first role in the novela Más Fuerte que tu amor as well as in others like La Otra, as well as the 1977 version of Corazón Salvaje.
Rumors ran rampant that William Levy and Maite Perroni were going to be in a play together, but it was eventually announced that Maite didn’t want the part, so former Miss Universe Alicia MachadoUn amante a la Medida was more than happy to come alongside William.
Ninel said that she was verbally abused and physically assaulted by Mario Cimarro on the set of the telenovela that they’re starring in together. Imagine El Bombón Asesino being roughed up by her leading man!
Mario had better register for some anger management classes, like, fast. Juan Zepeda, Ninel’s husband is surely not going to put up with that kind of behavior, and has made that known. Mario may be stronger, but Juancho just might have some unseen strenghts to surprise us all.
And what did Mario have to say for himself? He claims that oh, he was supposed to be rough in that scene, blah, blah, and there had been changes in the atmosphere that the script called for that Ninel wasn’t aware of.
Poor Ninel. This isn’t the first time the poor girl has been a victim of co-stars claiming that they were being physically rough with her for the sake of script realism. Remember this?
It was a wonderful Latino celebrity week, and what a week it was.
Shakira scored her third cover for mainstream rock magazine Rolling Stone.
Has she outdone herself this time around, or do you like the previous covers better?
And her very first one…
In the magazine’s issue, Shaki hints that her biological clock is ticking, and that it’s really getting to her ears. She told her interviewer:
“My body feels like it is asking to reproduce.”
And she also talks about Colombia:
“Colombia is not how people think it is. We used to eat fish every Sunday at the beach. In the town where I grew up, people did not tell lies.People are not depressed in Colombia the same way people are in America.”
Okay, a lot of you are always emailing us, asking for some more of Shakira, so you will get a really big dose today.
Shakira has been very busy lately. And we say busy, for a lack of a better world, because our petite Lebanese-Colombian has been jumping continents, and hopping everywhere, as she promotes her album Loba.
She was at MTV’s New York Studios, and as you can see she was all smiles.
And a few nights before she was at the Whitney Museum gala, looking the sexiest we’ve ever seen her, and that’s saying a lot!
